Kir

Dry white wine tinted with a measure of blackcurrant liqueur — a simple French aperitif.


Ingredients

  • 10 ml creme de cassis
  • 90 ml white wine

Method

  1. 1Pour the cassis into a wine glass.
  2. 2Top up with cold dry white wine.

PRO TIP

Use Champagne instead of still wine and it becomes a Kir Royale.

Russian Spring Punch

Vodka, cassis and lemon topped with sparkling wine — a fizzy, berry-bright cooler.


Ingredients

  • 25 ml vodka
  • 25 ml lemon juice
  • 15 ml creme de cassis
  • 10 ml simple syrup
  • to top prosecco

Method

  1. 1Shake everything except the sparkling wine with ice.
  2. 2Strain into an ice-filled tall glass.
  3. 3Top with prosecco or Champagne.

El Diablo

Tequila and blackcurrant over spicy ginger beer — dark red, long and lively.


Ingredients

  • 45 ml reposado tequila
  • 15 ml creme de cassis
  • 15 ml lime juice
  • to top ginger beer

Method

  1. 1Build tequila, cassis and lime over ice in a highball.
  2. 2Top with ginger beer.
  3. 3Stir once gently.

PRO TIP

Spicy ginger beer plays off the sweet cassis.

Kir Royale

Champagne tinted with a measure of blackcurrant liqueur — pink, elegant and effortless.


Ingredients

  • 10 ml creme de cassis
  • to top champagne

Method

  1. 1Add the cassis to a chilled flute.
  2. 2Top slowly with Champagne.

PRO TIP

Use still white wine instead of Champagne and it's simply a Kir.
